How we grade them

Value for money
BPlanner membership is $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year on the US App Store, which is cheap for a planner. But neither the App Store nor Moleskine's site says what the membership unlocks, so we can't call it a bargain.
AThe US App Store lists Pro at $2.99, $6.99 and $7.99 a month and from $9.99 to $39.99 a year, or $99.99 once for life. Even the top yearly price is under half what a typical planner costs over a year. Prices change by region, and Structured publishes no price list.
Free plan and trial
BIt's a free download and you can start without paying. But Moleskine doesn't publish which features are free and which need a membership, so you find the limits as you go.
BFree for good, with the timeline, an inbox, subtasks, notes, notifications, widgets and sync. That's a real planner. But repeating tasks, calendar import, Reminders import and the AI all need Pro, and a day planner without your calendar in it is a tight deal.
Features
BCalendar events and tasks on a daily timeline or in blocks, a weekly overview, subtasks, notes, icons, colors and themed lists. Solid basics. The listing shows nothing it connects to beyond the calendars already on your device.
AOne timeline for tasks and events with day, week and month views, an inbox for things not yet scheduled, imports from Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do, repeating tasks, Replan for the ones you missed, and an AI that drafts your day or scans a paper timetable.
Ease of use
B4.5 from about 500 App Store ratings. A time slider moves a task or changes how long it takes, and a long press sends it to another day.
A4.8 from about 167,000 App Store ratings, which is a huge crowd to keep happy. Your day is a single coloured line you read top to bottom. No manual needed for that.
Platforms and integrations
CiPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro, on iOS 17, iPadOS 17 or macOS 14 and later. All Apple. Moleskine links no Android or web version.
AiPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android and a web app, kept in step by Structured Cloud. It pulls in Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do. No Windows app, and the web version doesn't have every feature of the phone apps yet.

Key features

Moleskine Planner

Day view timeline
Each day's schedule and tasks are laid out visually, with a choice of Block View or Timeline View. A time slider moves a task or changes its duration.
Weekly overview
A week view shows all appointments and tasks for the week, and a long press on a day opens the task editor with that date already set.
Calendar integration
Calendars are chosen with checkboxes in the settings menu, and their events are displayed in the planner beside your tasks.
Customizable tasks
Tasks take icons, colors, subtasks and notes and can be marked complete. Subtasks can be shown and ticked off without opening the task.
Lists
Related tasks are grouped by topic into lists, which show how many days remain until future tasks are due and a completed count.
Rescheduling and duplicating
A long press moves a task to another date, and an activity can be copied and duplicated onto a different date and time.

Structured

Visual timeline
Tasks and imported calendar events appear on one timeline for the day, with daily, weekly and monthly views and color coding.
Inbox, subtasks and notes
Tasks can wait in an inbox until they are scheduled, and carry subtasks, notes, icons and notifications. All of this is in the free version.
Calendar and Reminders import
Brings in events from Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook and to-do lists from Apple Reminders and Microsoft To Do. Requires Structured Pro.
Recurring tasks and Replan
Repeat tasks on a schedule, and use Replan to move missed tasks onto another day. Both are Pro features.
Structured AI
Drafts a daily schedule and can scan a physical planner or timetable into the timeline. Requires Structured Pro.
Sync across devices
Structured Cloud sync shares data and Pro access between Apple devices, Android and the web app, and the Apple Watch app shows the schedule on your wrist.
