How we grade them

2.6GPAAkiflowGood2.8GPAEmeryGood
Value for money
C$19 a month if you pay $228 up front, or $34 month to month. That's the pricey end for a planner: Sunsama is $17 and Morgen $15. Meeting recording is another $19 on top.
B$99 a year on Emery's site, about $8.25 a month, which is typical for a planner. Lifetime access is $149, a fair deal if you stay past 18 months. Avoid monthly on the US App Store, which is $19.99.
Free plan and trial
DNo free plan. You get 7 days with everything unlocked, but a card goes in first and the plan starts by itself unless you cancel. Sunsama and Morgen both give 14 days with no card.
DNo free plan. The only trial is 7 days on an App Store subscription, the kind that starts charging unless you cancel. Buy on the web and there's no trial at all, just a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Features
AOne inbox for tasks from Gmail, Slack, Notion, Asana, Jira and more, time blocking on your real calendar, booking links, a command bar and an AI assistant. Few planners pack in this much.
BThree priority buckets for tasks and meetings, a fresh page each day, drag-and-drop time blocking, two-way sync with Google, Outlook and iCloud across several accounts, and notes and projects. Solid and simple. It's for one person, not for team planning.
Ease of use
BReviewers call it quick to set up, and the plan comes with a free 1:1 onboarding call. Still, one fan's advice was to watch the tutorials first, and a couple of reviews mention bugs.
BWe have no App Store rating on record for it, so a B is as high as we go. The idea is easy to grasp: sort today's tasks into three groups, then drag the ones that need time onto the calendar.
Platforms and integrations
BWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, in sync with Google and Outlook calendars. Plenty of integrations, plus Zapier, IFTTT and a connector for Claude and ChatGPT. No Linux app.
AWeb, iPhone and Android, with Google, Outlook and Apple calendars syncing both ways. There are no desktop apps yet, though the site says they're coming.

Key features

Akiflow

Universal inbox
Tasks from connected tools such as Gmail, Slack, Notion, Asana, Jira and Todoist land in one inbox. Zapier and IFTTT cover tools without a native integration.
Time blocking on the calendar
Place tasks on a calendar that syncs with Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar. Release 2.83 adds two-way iCloud Calendar sync, due for everyone on Oct 14, 2026, and Travel Time blocks before events.
Aki AI assistant
Ask Aki by chat or voice to plan, prioritize or move work, for example clearing an afternoon and pushing tasks to the next day. Included in Pro and labelled Beta on the features page.
Availability sharing and booking
Share open slots or a meeting link so other people can book one-off or recurring meetings with you.
Command bar and shortcuts
Create, edit and navigate tasks from the keyboard. The command bar also turns copied text from a web page into a task.
MCP connector
Connects Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client to your Akiflow tasks, calendar and meetings.

Emery

Fires, Growth and Extras
Each day's tasks go into three groups: Fires that cause problems if skipped, Growth work toward longer-term goals, and Extras that can wait or be dropped.
A fresh page each day
The planner opens on today. Unfinished tasks are set aside in grey to review later, with no overdue counts or streaks, and a week strip shows the days ahead.
Drag-and-drop time blocking
Dragging a task onto the calendar reserves a time slot for it. The block can be saved to a connected external calendar or kept on Emery's own.
Two-way calendar sync
Google, Outlook and iCloud calendars sync in both directions, and several accounts can be connected and viewed together.
Priorities for meetings
Calendar events can be given the same three priorities as tasks and are color-coded, so the meetings that matter stand out in the day view.
Notes and projects
Private notes can be attached to events, and tasks and notes can be organized by project.
