How we grade them
| 1.8GPASynderWeak | 2.6GPAXeroGood | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | DGraded against its own alternatives, as it syncs sales rather than keeping books: Basic is $52 a month billed yearly ($65 monthly) for 500 sales, about twice Dext's $25.21 or Xero's $27, with the ledger paid for on top. Busier sellers start at $103. | CEarly is $27 a month, between this category's middle at $23 and its dearer quarter at $31.10, and it stops at 20 invoices and 5 bills. No limits means Growing at $59. Users are unlimited on every plan, though, which helps once a team is involved. |
| Free plan and trial | CA 15-day free trial with no card needed, long enough to sync a couple of weeks of real sales and check they land in the right accounts. There's no free plan. | COne month free on any plan, but you give up the 80%-off-for-3-months offer to take it. There's no free plan, and the listing doesn't say whether a card is needed for the trial. |
| Features | DNext to its alternatives it does one job, and does it fully: sale-by-sale or daily summary sync, fees, sales tax, refunds, payout matching and product mapping. But it needs QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or Sage Intacct, paid separately, to be useful at all. | BBank reconciliation, invoices and quotes, Tap to Pay, bill capture, free ACH bill payments, cash flow forecasts, Syft analytics, the JAX assistant and Gusto payroll. Multiple currencies need Established, but the whole job is here. |
| Ease of use | CNo store rating on record. Mapping products, customers, accounts and platforms is real setting up, and it's worth getting right, since every sale lands straight in your books. | B4.65 from 1,689 App Store ratings, just under the top band. Auto-reconcile, which takes away the most clicking, is part of Growing and Established and a $5 a month add-on on Early. |
| Platforms and integrations | BWeb only, but it connects 30+ sales platforms, including Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, Square and Amazon, to QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite and Sage Intacct. No phone or desktop app. | BWeb, iPhone and Android, plus an app store with Gusto, Stripe, Syft, Dext, A2X and Mercury. There's no desktop app, which is what keeps it off an A. |
| Best for | syncing store and payment sales into your books | small businesses that work with an accountant |

Worth knowing
Synder
- Synder does not keep the books itself: it posts into QuickBooks, Xero, Puzzle, NetSuite or Sage Intacct, which are paid for separately.
- Basic stops at 500 sales transactions a month, 2 integration slots and one import a day; on higher plans, volume past the included amount is billed separately.
- NetSuite, Sage Intacct and premium integrations such as Clover, Walmart and the Synder API need Pro or above, both sold through sales.
- Historical data import is paid on Basic and Essential, and free for 3 months on Pro and Pro Max; extra users cost a fee.
Xero
- The advertised prices are 80% off for the first 3 months; plans then renew at $27, $59 or $97 a month.
- Early stops at 20 invoices and 5 bills, and its graphs and cash flow forecast are the basic ones.
- US payroll costs $36 a month plus $6 per employee or contractor, and is not offered to Xero's US mobile-only subscribers.
- These are US prices; Xero sells in other countries, including New Zealand, Australia and the UK, on separate regional sites.
