Worth knowing
Week Plan
- OKRs, calendar sync, recurring tasks, the Eisenhower Matrix, custom boards and team tools are listed only under the paid Ultimate plan.
- There is no offline mode: the FAQ says Week Plan needs an internet connection.
- Apps are listed for Windows, iOS and Android. Mac and Linux users work in the web app.
- The pricing page does not say whether the Ultimate price is per user, and the US App Store lists in-app prices of $9.99 and $103.99.
WeekToDo
- There is no sync between devices, no cloud copy of the data and no mobile app. Sync and a mobile version are on the project's roadmap.
- The latest release on GitHub, version 2.2.0, is dated February 2024.
- The changelog for version 2.0.0 lists a telemetry system among its additions, while the privacy statement is dated December 2020.
- The download page says the app is not code-signed, so the first launch needs a workaround.
Key features
Week Plan
- Vision and roles
- Planning starts with a long-term vision or mission statement and a set of roles, so tasks can be created for or assigned to each role.
- Goals and OKRs
- Objectives and key results are defined in the app and tasks are linked to them, so the week's work can be checked against longer-term goals. Ultimate only.
- High Impact Tasks
- The tasks that contribute most to a goal are marked as High Impact Tasks (HITs) and highlighted in the weekly plan. Included in the free Lite plan.
- Eisenhower Matrix
- A quadrant view sorts tasks by urgency and importance into do now, plan later, delegate or skip. Listed under the Ultimate plan.
- Calendar view and time blocking
- Tasks are dragged into a calendar view to block time, and Ultimate syncs with Google Calendar and Outlook so events appear in the same place.
- Pomodoro timer and time tracking
- A built-in Pomodoro timer runs 25-minute work cycles with 5-minute breaks and tracks the time automatically. The FAQ lists it among the Ultimate plan's features.
WeekToDo
- Week calendar and task list in one
- The main screen shows the week as columns of days with each day's tasks under it, so planning and the to-do list share a single interface.
- Custom to-do lists
- Separate lists hold tasks that are not tied to a day, such as projects, and a setting controls how many list columns are shown.
- Sub-tasks and Markdown
- A task can be broken into sub-tasks, and its description supports Markdown, with links opening in the web browser.
- Recurring tasks and reminders
- Tasks can repeat, including on chosen weekdays, and a time and an alarm can be set on a task so it raises a notification.
- Drag and drop and task colors
- Tasks are moved between days and lists by dragging, and each one can be given a color from the task color picker.
- Local storage
- The privacy statement says all data is saved locally on the device and never sent to the project's server, and no personal data is collected.
