Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What these tools do, how many we grade and what to know before choosing

15

customer review tools we grade, from their own pages

Ask customers for reviews, show the best ones on your site and reply to them from one place.

Before you choose, here are 7 things to know about customer review tools, worked out from every one we grade.

  1. 1

We grade 15 customer review tools

7 of them are free or have a free plan, and 4 more let you try before paying. Everything in this guide comes from their own pages and our grades.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $39.50 a month in the middle

From $15 (Yotpo) to $399 (Podium), going by what each one's paid plans start at.

  3. 3

    Best value: Podium and Yotpo

Nothing on our chart scores higher than these without costing more.

  4. 4

3 of 15 have iPhone and Android apps

15 run in a web browser and 0 have a Windows app. Check the one you need before you fall for anything.

  5. 5

    The middle GPA is 2.2

1 score 3.0 or higher. The highest is Judge.me, at 3.0.

  6. 6

    Best free option: Judge.me

Judge.me has the highest GPA of the free ones, 3.0. Product reviews for Shopify stores with a free plan and one paid tier.

  7. 7

15 worth keeping, 0 you could make

By our keep-or-make rules, 15 do something you couldn't reasonably build yourself, 0 are simple enough to make with an AI app builder, and 0 are a close call.

Part 02 · Top three

Our top three

The three we'd look at first, and who each one suits

The three customer review tools we'd look at first. First place suits the most people; second and third are the best picks for the people it leaves out. Each has an Insider's Guide of its own.

  1. 1st

    3.0GPA

    Judge.me

    Free plan · from $15/mo

For: Most small stores selling on Shopify

Judge.me asks Shopify buyers for a review after delivery and shows text, photo and video reviews in widgets and star badges, with rich snippets and sync to the Shop app, Etsy and Amazon. Forever Free has no cap on reviews, orders or requests, and Awesome, $15 a month whatever the order count, adds Q&A, reminders, coupons, referrals, AI replies, Google Shopping and 130+ integrations such as Klaviyo. Know the limits: it works on Shopify only, having ended support for WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Squarespace, Awesome is billed monthly only, and dropping back to Free resets Awesome-only settings.

    NiceJob

    Free trial · from $75/mo

For: Local service businesses after Google reviews

NiceJob texts and emails customers for a review on Google and other sites when a job is finished, usually set off by Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan or QuickBooks, then shows the reviews in website widgets and on a hosted reviews page, with social auto-posting and a staff leaderboard. Starter is $75 a month, after a 14-day trial with no card. It is second because it costs more to start than Judge.me: there is no free plan, and AI replies, referrals, rebooking reminders and NPS surveys need Pro at $125 a month.

    2.4GPA

    Yotpo

    Free plan · from $15/mo

For: Stores on WooCommerce, BigCommerce and other platforms

Yotpo asks for a product review after each order on Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, with email and SMS reminders, photo and video reviews from Starter, rich snippets and Google Shopping, and a separate loyalty product. The free plan covers up to 50 orders a month, and Starter is $15 a month for up to 99 orders. It is third because the bill rises with sales: a store with 300 to 599 orders pays $89 a month, Google Seller Ratings, AI summaries and Q&A start at Pro from $119, and the free plan has no photo or video reviews.

Part 05 · Keep or make

Keep or make?

Which are worth paying for, and which you could make yourself

0

Simple enough to make yourself, of 15

Some software does something you couldn’t reasonably build yourself. Some is simple enough that an AI app builder could make the core of it in an afternoon. Here’s where customer review tools land, by the same rules for every tool.

  • 15

    Keep it

It does something you could not reasonably make for yourself, or it costs nothing.

  • 0

    Your call

You could make the core of it, and you would give something up.

  • 0

    You could make this

What it does is the kind of thing an AI app builder makes well, and it charges every month.

Worth keeping

  • Judge.me

The plain part of Judge.me you could make: review collection. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

  • Junip

The plain part of Junip you could make: review collection. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

  • NiceJob

To replace NiceJob you would be making newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

  • REVIEWS.io

The plain part of REVIEWS.io you could make: review collection and surveys. What surrounds it you could not. The 5 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
