Value for money
APro is $47.99 a year, about $4 a month, which is half the typical planner. Paying monthly is $7.99, so the year is the one to pick. Those are US prices.
APremium is $50 a year on the US App Store, about $4.17 a month, which is half what a typical planner asks. It adds calendar sync, journaling, custom categories and advanced mood analytics. Paying monthly is $10, so the year is the one to pick.
Free plan and trial
BFree gives you 5 tasks a session, 2 focus sessions a day, 3 soundscapes and 7 days of history. Enough to see if it suits you. Not enough for a full working day, since two sessions go fast.
BVisual daily planning, priority to-do lists, reminders, thousands of images and colours, and breathing exercises are free, with no ads and no card. That's a good start. But calendar sync, journaling and custom categories are Premium, so your calendar stays outside unless you pay.
Features
BA timed day plan from your tasks and estimates, long tasks split into blocks with named resets, a finish time that updates as you go, and 13 soundscapes. It does that one job fully. But the site describes no calendar sync or links to other task apps.
AA picture timeline, routines that come round by themselves, a to-do list with subtasks, a focus timer you can pause or extend, mood tracking on a traffic-light system and a private journal. Carers and family can be invited as assistants, and schedules can be printed.
Ease of use
BWe have no App Store rating on record for it, so a B is as high as we go. You type or paste a list with time estimates and it lays out the day, and it works without an internet connection.
BNo App Store rating on record, so a B is our ceiling. The whole design is about reading the day at a glance, with an image and a colour on every activity. One niggle: Thruday's site doesn't publish Premium prices, so you find them in the app store.
Platforms and integrations
CiPhone and Android only, with no web or desktop version. On Apple devices sessions sync through your own iCloud, and that's the only hook-up listed.
BiPhone, Android and a web app for when you're at a computer. No desktop apps are listed. Calendar sync comes with Premium, but no other integrations are on record.

Key features

Ebbi

Day plan from tasks and estimates
Type tasks with time estimates, or paste a whole list, and Ebbi lays them out in order with a start time on each task and a finish time for the whole plan.
Auto-split tasks and labeled breaks
Tasks of 25 minutes or more are split into shorter blocks with short resets between them. Resets can be named, such as a walk or the laundry, and the number of blocks changed.
Live finish time
During a session the projected finish time updates as minutes are added or removed or the timer is paused, and the rest of the schedule recalculates.
Focus soundscapes
13 soundscapes include white, pink and brown noise, rain, ocean waves and lo-fi music. Silence, white noise and lo-fi are free; the other ten need Pro.
Progress and estimate accuracy
Today's completed and skipped sessions are shown on the free plan. Pro adds weekly and monthly views and compares planned time with how long tasks actually ran.
On-device data
The app works without an internet connection and the vendor runs no servers that hold user content. On Apple devices, sessions sync through the user's own iCloud account.

Thruday

Visual timeline
The day is shown in time order with each activity given an image and color, so what is happening now and what comes next can be read at a glance.
Routines and reminders
Morning, evening, work or school routines recur automatically inside the daily schedule, with alerts and notifications for tasks, plans and appointments.
To-do list
Tasks are captured in a list with color-coded priorities, tags and subtasks, then reordered or added to the day when you are ready to plan them.
Focus timer
A focus session starts from a to-do, a planned activity or on its own, and can be paused, rewound or extended while the next activity stays in view.
Mood tracking and journal
Moods are logged through the day with a traffic-light system and reviewed for patterns over time. A private journal holds notes and brain dumps.
Assistants for carers and family
A parent, carer, partner or support worker can be invited to help plan routines and days, and daily schedules can be printed.
