  • People who forget to start and stop timers

Timely

Worth knowing

Clockk

  • There is no mobile app; the FAQ says one is planned but still a long way off.
  • The free Express plan shows only the current day in the Activity view and keeps limited tracked data for three months.
  • FreshBooks is the only third-party integration available today; QuickBooks and Clio are announced but not yet listed as live.
  • Time cannot be attached to individual tickets or tasks in a project tool, a choice the vendor explains in its FAQ.

Timely

  • There is no free plan: a subscription is needed once the 14-day trial ends.
  • Starter is capped at 5 users and 20 projects, and Premium at 50 users.
  • Timely's handbook says the iOS and Android apps remain available but are no longer actively developed.
  • Memory apps are offered for macOS 14 or later and Windows 10 or later; no Linux app is listed.

Key features

Clockk

Tracking without timers
The Mac or Windows desktop app records the active window by app and document name, and a browser extension records each page's URL and title. Nothing has to be started or stopped.
Activity view
Each day is laid out project by project, showing the files, apps, web apps, calendar events and emails behind the time. Items are assigned to a project once or always.
AI project grouping
Clockk learns from past assignments and assigns matching work to the same project. On supported apps it reads the document or account name to tell projects apart.
Email and calendar tracking
The desktop app connects to Gmail, Outlook or Exchange, or an IMAP server to time draft emails, and imports Google and Outlook calendars or any public .ics feed.
Timesheets, budgets and team reports
Assigned time is locked in as a timesheet. Studio adds tags, project budgets, project-user permissions and team reports, including one listing who has not submitted.
Private by design
Clockk takes no screenshots and tracked activity is visible only to the person it belongs to. Employers see submitted timesheets, and tracking can be switched off at any time.

Timely

Memory tracker
The Memory app for Mac and Windows records your work automatically to a private timeline, so there are no timers to start and stop. A manual timer is also available.
AI timesheets
AI drafts a timesheet from the recorded activity and sorts it into projects, leaving the user to review and approve the entries.
Projects and budgets
A project dashboard shows team and budget activity as it happens, with billable rates and time or money budgets. Recurring budgets need Premium or Unlimited.
Planning and capacity
Premium lets managers plan work for their teams. Unlimited adds capacity management and reporting along with overtime and undertime tracking.
Reports and invoicing
Reports export as PDF, CSV or XLS and can be shared as live or snapshot links. Invoices are built from tracked time and can be sent to QuickBooks Online.
Tasks add-on
An optional add-on for assigning, scheduling and tracking progress on deliverables, available on any plan from $5 per person.
