How we grade them

3.0GPAGranolaVery good3.2GPATiroVery good
Value for money
B$14 a person a month is fair for how good the notes are. But it's monthly only, so there's no cheaper yearly price like most apps offer.
BLite is $7 a month, or $70 a year, which is under the typical price here. But it covers 300 minutes a month, and speaker labels don't start until Pro at $13 with 1,000 minutes. Unlimited recording is Max at $29. Extra minutes are $0.025 each if you switch them on.
Free plan and trial
BNo daily limit on transcription, which is generous. But you only get to see the last 30 days of notes.
CNo free plan. The trial is a one-time 3 weeks with up to 300 recording minutes, and no payment method is needed. After that, recording new notes needs a subscription.
Features
BNo bot, notes built around what you typed, and you can ask questions across all your meetings. The app hook-ups and the API sit on the paid plan.
AText appears as people speak, with live translation across 15 languages, and each recording ends as a one-page document. The desktop apps record system audio with no bot. Ask Tiro answers across all your notes and cites its sources, and templates turn notes into minutes or interview write-ups.
Ease of use
A4.96 from about 14,000 App Store ratings. Sign in with Google or Microsoft, connect your calendar and it just starts working.
BThe transcript builds on screen as people speak, and a one-page summary is made when the recording ends. There's no rating on record to show how people get on with it, so a B.
Platforms and integrations
CMac, Windows, iPhone, Android and Apple Watch. But no web app, no Linux, and the Mac app needs macOS 14 or later.
AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. Notes go to Slack, Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, HubSpot or Salesforce, and the API, MCP server and CLI are on every plan at no extra charge. One catch: the web app can't record system audio or work offline.

Who each one suits

Granola

  • People who do not want a recording bot visible in their calls
  • Note-takers who like to type their own points and have them filled out afterwards
  • Back-to-back meeting schedules across Zoom, Google Meet and Teams

Tiro

  • Multilingual meetings that need live translation alongside the transcript
  • Recording video calls on Windows or Mac without a visible meeting bot
  • Teams that want notes reachable from Claude, ChatGPT or their own scripts

Worth knowing

Granola

  • The free Basic plan shows only the last 30 days of notes; older notes need a Business subscription to view.
  • Notion, HubSpot, Attio, Affinity and Zapier integrations start on Business; Salesforce, SSO and SCIM are Enterprise only.
  • Basic and Business are billed monthly only; annual billing is offered on Enterprise contracts.
  • There is no web app or browser extension, and the Mac app needs macOS 14 or later.

Tiro

  • There is no free plan: the trial is a one-time 3 weeks and 300 minutes, and recording new notes afterward needs a subscription.
  • Lite and Pro are capped at 300 and 1,000 minutes a month; with additional recording switched on, extra minutes cost $0.025 each.
  • Speaker diarization and the Wiki start at the Pro plan.
  • The web app cannot record system audio or work offline; both need the desktop app. Subscribing through the App Store or Google Play costs more than on the web.

Key features

Granola

Bot-free capture
Transcribes from your device's microphone and system audio, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or other call software without adding a participant to the meeting.
Notes built on what you type
Type rough notes during the call and Granola expands them into a full write-up using the transcript. Custom templates control the structure of the result.
Chat across meetings
Ask questions about one meeting or your whole history, such as what you agreed to do this week. Basic uses automatic model choice; paid plans let you pick the model.
Shared folders
Notes are private until you share them. Shared folders give a team a common place for meeting notes and are included on every plan.
MCP and API access
An MCP connection lets assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT read your meeting notes. Basic exposes personal notes from the last 30 days; API access starts on Business.
Phone apps for in-person meetings
The iPhone and Android apps take notes away from the desk, for walking meetings, conferences or coffee catch-ups, and there is an Apple Watch app.

Tiro

Live transcription and one-page notes
Text appears on screen as people speak, with automatic error correction as context builds. When the recording ends Tiro creates a one-page document, a note and a full transcript.
Real-time translation
Tiro supports 15 languages, including Korean, English and Japanese. Setting different languages for the conversation and the recording shows a live translation alongside the transcript.
System audio without a bot
The Windows and Mac apps record the computer's audio together with your voice, covering Zoom, Meet and Teams calls, YouTube and lectures. No bot joins the meeting.
Templates
Ready-made and custom templates turn a note into a recurring format such as meeting minutes, an interview write-up or an evaluation sheet in one click.
Ask Tiro and Wiki
Ask Tiro answers questions about one note or all of them and cites its sources. The Wiki, from the Pro plan, organizes the people, topics and decisions found in meeting records.
Exports, API and MCP
Notes export to PDF, Word or email and can be sent to Slack, Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, HubSpot or Salesforce. The API, MCP server and CLI carry no extra charge.
