Who each one suits

Cupla

  • Couples who each keep their own Google, Apple or Outlook calendar
  • Partners who share chores, groceries and errands
  • Couples who want reminders to schedule regular dates

Google Calendar

  • Anyone who already has a Google Account and wants a free calendar
  • Organizations standardizing on Google Workspace for mail, files and meetings
  • Taking bookings through a single free appointment page

Worth knowing

Cupla

  • Cupla connects exactly two accounts. The help center says a third person, such as a child or roommate, cannot be added.
  • The free version shows a partner's events and to-dos only in a limited window around today; the help center does not give its length.
  • Prices are not on the website. The US App Store lists several amounts for the same subscription, plus a $39.99 item named Cupla Plus.
  • Cupla AI is not on the web version, and the platform comparison says it is not yet on Android. Accounts must be created in a mobile app.

Google Calendar

  • The paid version is only sold as part of Google Workspace, which also includes Gmail, Drive and Meet.
  • Personal accounts and Business Starter get one booking page; extra schedules, payments and reminders need Business Standard or higher, or an eligible Google One plan.
  • Time Insights and working hours and location are limited to work or school accounts, and Time Insights can only be viewed on a computer.
  • No desktop app is listed; Google offers it on the web and as Android and iOS apps.

Key features

Cupla

Both schedules in one view
Google, Apple, Outlook and any other calendar on the phone appear in a color-coded view of both partners, shown side by side, stacked or by month. Changes sync back to the original calendar app.
Per-event privacy
Each partner chooses what the other sees, so some events can be shared in full and others kept private.
Shared to-dos and lists
Task lists carry priorities, labels, reminders and recurring tasks, and a task can be assigned to one partner or both. A grocery list is always shared in full, even on the free version.
Date planner and key dates
Set a goal for how often to go on a date and get reminders to meet it. Key dates count down to anniversaries, birthdays and trips, with notices a week before, a day before and on the day.
Cupla AI
An assistant that reads the shared calendar, to-dos, wishlists and key dates to plan a date, find time both partners have free, or turn a typed paragraph into events and to-dos.
Wishlists
Links sent from TikTok, Instagram or the web are sorted into shared collections such as travel, restaurants and gift ideas. On the web version an item can be turned into an event or a to-do.

Google Calendar

Appointment booking pages
Publish a page where others pick a time on your calendar. Eligible paid plans allow several schedules, Stripe payments, email verification and up to 20 co-hosts.
Shared and layered calendars
Create calendars shared with a team or a whole organization, and view several calendars together, color-coded by category.
Scheduling from Gmail with Gemini
On Workspace plans, Gemini in Gmail can suggest meeting times and add events detected in an email with one click.
Google Meet and attachments
Events can carry a Google Meet video link and attached files, so the call and its documents open from the invitation.
Time Insights and working location
Work and school accounts can see how much time goes to meetings and who they meet most, and can share working hours and location.
Tasks on the calendar
Items from Google Tasks appear on the calendar next to events.
