Worth knowing
actiTIME
- The free version stops at 3 users and omits approvals, overtime, budgets, task estimates, custom fields, the API and the Chrome extension.
- actiTIME Online is browser-only: there is no desktop app, only iOS and Android apps and a Chrome extension.
- Self-Hosted maintenance falls to your own IT staff, major upgrades cost 100% of the initial price, and engineer sessions are $40 an hour.
- Listed prices exclude taxes.
TimeCamp
- Integrations are not part of Free or Starter: Premium includes one and Ultimate removes the limit.
- The AI Time Tracker is billed by token usage on top of the plan price.
- Timesheet approvals, expenses, billing rates, screenshots and SSO login need the Ultimate plan.
- Self-hosted and private cloud setups are offered to customers with 50 or more users on annual Ultimate.
Key features
actiTIME
- Timesheets and calendar
- Time is entered in a weekly timesheet or as start and stop time cards on a calendar, with comments, overtime and leave. Timesheets can be locked and sent for approval.
- Task management
- Tasks carry estimates, deadlines, priorities, assignments and custom workflow statuses, and a Kanban view shows progress across a project.
- Budgets
- Time, cost and billing budgets can be set for tasks, projects and customers, over a date range or the lifetime of the work, in any number.
- Reports
- Reports cover staff performance, overtime, leave balances, estimated against actual time, billing summaries and profit and loss, with charts and CSV export.
- Billing and invoicing
- Billable amounts come from billing rates and logged time, and invoices are generated from them. A QuickBooks Online integration passes time data to accounting.
- Online or self-hosted
- actiTIME Online runs in a browser on Amazon servers with daily backups. The self-hosted edition runs on an internal server, and both offer a REST API.
TimeCamp
- Timesheets and automatic tracking
- Time is logged with a timer, manual entries or a weekly timesheet, and the desktop app can track computer activity automatically. Apps and websites tracking starts on Premium.
- AI Time Tracker
- A separate app for macOS and Windows that suggests time entries. It is billed by token usage on top of the plan, which TimeCamp estimates at about $6 per user a month.
- Attendance and time off
- From Starter, an attendance calendar records working days alongside time-off and overtime tracking, with reports for each.
- Billing and budgets
- Invoicing starts on Starter, and billable time and budgets with alerts on Premium. Billing rates, expenses, labor costs and fixed fee projects need Ultimate.
- Reports
- More than 10 time tracking reports with PDF export. Excel export starts on Starter, scheduled email reports on Premium and the pivot table report on Ultimate.
- Approvals and monitoring
- Ultimate adds timesheet approvals, screenshots, unusual activity detection, remote work detection and a history of changes to time entries.
