How we grade them

Value for money
BPro is $11 per seat a month billed annually, $15 monthly. That's about the going rate for booking tools, and it buys unlimited polls and pages with no ads. Custom branding and Stripe payments need Team at $16 a seat, with at least 2 seats.
AEverything is free. The FAQ says so, the terms of use say so, and there's no paid plan anywhere on the site.
Free plan and trial
BFree with no card, but it's one Group Poll, one Booking Page and one 1:1, plus basic Sign-up Sheets. Ads show to organisers and participants alike. Fine for the odd poll, tight for anything regular.
AThe product is free, and the FAQ says there are no adverts and that everything works without an account. Free polls with neither ads nor a sign-up are not common, so that's worth a mention.
Features
AGroup polls where each person sees times in their own zone, booking pages with buffers and daily limits, 1:1 invites that pull a slot when your calendar fills, and sign-up sheets with capped sessions. Guests don't need an account.
BOne job, done fully: slots of 15, 30 or 60 minutes or whole days, times adjusted to each invitee's own time zone, and results that show near misses with a red dot per person who can't make it. But calendar integration is only an iCal export of the chosen time.
Ease of use
BWe have no App Store rating on record, and there's no app to rate any more. The format is familiar: propose times, share a link, people vote without signing up.
BClick the grid, press Create Event, send the link. No password to choose even if you make an account, as login is a six-digit code by email. There's no rating on record to go by, so a B at best.
Platforms and integrations
BWeb only now. Doodle withdrew its iOS and Android apps from the stores, so on a phone it runs in the browser. It connects Google Calendar, iCloud Calendar, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Stripe and Zapier.
CA web page and nothing else. No phone or desktop app is listed, and it doesn't connect to any calendar or video tool. The nearest thing is the iCal file you can download for the chosen time.

Who each one suits

Doodle

  • Finding a meeting time across people who do not share a calendar system
  • Event organizers who need sign-up sheets with capped sessions
  • Occasional schedulers who can work within one free poll and booking page

WhenIsGood

  • Organizers who want an availability poll with no sign-up and no adverts
  • Groups in different time zones choosing a time for a call
  • One-off meetings and events where invitees should not need accounts

Worth knowing

Doodle

  • The Free plan is limited to one Group Poll, one Booking Page and one 1:1, and shows ads to organizers and participants.
  • Doodle no longer offers a standalone mobile app; the iOS and Android apps were withdrawn from the app stores and it now runs in desktop and mobile browsers.
  • Custom branding, Stripe payments and the admin console start on Team, which requires at least 2 seats.
  • Single sign-on is limited to Enterprise, which starts at $15k billed annually.

WhenIsGood

  • Event links have no passwords; the FAQ relies on the random invitation URL being hard to guess.
  • The FAQ describes calendar integration only as an iCal (.ics) export of the chosen time, so availability is entered by hand.
  • Without an account, you need the results code from the event-created page to see responses later.
  • The site text is in English only; the language box changes how dates, times and numbers are written.

Key features

Doodle

Group Polls
Propose several times and let invitees vote. People inside or outside your organization can take part without shared calendar access, and each sees the options in their own time zone.
Booking Pages
Set the hours for each page, limit bookings per day, add buffer times and share the link. People who book receive reminders. Free allows one page; paid plans allow unlimited.
1:1 invitations
Offer one person a list of times to pick from, without them needing a Doodle account. A slot is withdrawn automatically if your connected calendar fills up first.
Sign-up Sheets
Registration pages for workshops, webinars and other events, with a cap on attendees per session and automatic reminders. Participants do not need a Doodle account.
Calendar and video conferencing links
A connected calendar prevents double bookings and sends calendar invites to participants. Pro adds Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Webex links to meetings.
Team administration and payments
The Team plan adds an admin console with roles and permissions, co-hosted events, booking on behalf of colleagues, activity reports, custom branding and Stripe payments.

WhenIsGood

Paint-the-grid event setup
Click the grid for the dates and times you propose, optionally name the event, and press Create Event to get a link for invitees and a results code for yourself.
Results with near misses
Times that suit everyone show in green, and near misses carry red dots for the people who cannot make them. Respondents are listed from most flexible to least flexible.
Adjustable slots and hours
Buttons switch the grid between 15-, 30- and 60-minute slots or whole days, and the options panel widens the hours beyond the default 8am to 6pm.
Time zone support
With time zones switched on, proposed times are adjusted to each invitee's own zone, and the results page produces text showing the chosen time for every invitee.
Optional account and dashboard
Logging in with an emailed six-digit code, with no password to choose, collects your events and responses on a dashboard so results codes do not have to be kept.
Email alerts and iCal export
An organizer can ask for an email whenever someone responds. Clicking the chosen time on the results grid gives an iCal (.ics) link to add to a calendar or attach to an email.
