Value for money
CAdvantage is $39 a month billed annually ($468) for one user, and Standard, the only month-to-month plan, is $149. That's above what a typical form tool costs, and crosstabs, advanced logic and white label sit on Premier at $139 a month. Go over your response allowance and it's $0.15 per extra response.
APro is $180 a year, or $20 billed monthly, with no cap on responses. That works out at $15 a month, well under the typical forms price. Enterprise is $350 a year and adds Teams and API access.
Free plan and trial
BBasic is free, with unlimited surveys and Build with AI. But it's 10 questions per survey, and you can only view a limited number of responses. How many? SurveyMonkey shows that only after you sign up.
BNo limit on surveys, questions or responses, which is rare. But you can't export your results or use question branching without Pro, and free surveys carry Surveyplanet branding. You get a basic summary and charts in the app.
Features
AAI drafts a survey from a prompt, skip logic routes people through it, and the analysis is the strong part: statistical significance, multi-survey analysis, crosstabs and AI that groups open answers into themes. Teams share brand assets and set roles. Advanced logic and multilingual surveys wait for Premier.
BSurveys that show every question at once or one at a time, in more than 30 languages, with over 90 pre-written surveys. Pro adds branching, a theme designer, kiosk mode and AI survey creation. Solid basics, but no integrations are listed.
Ease of use
B4.57 from about 2,800 App Store ratings, a hair short of an A. Describe what the survey is for and Build with AI hands you a draft to edit.
BA web app with no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. There are over 90 pre-written surveys to start from, so you needn't write your own.
Platforms and integrations
AWeb, plus free iPhone and Android apps that create, send and analyse surveys. It connects to Slack, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Microsoft Teams and Zapier. Salesforce, Power BI and Tableau are Enterprise only.
BWeb only, shared by link, email, social networks or a website embed. There's an API, but only on Enterprise, and the listing names no integrations with other apps.

Surveyplanet

  • Exporting results and question branching are not on the free plan; both require Pro.
  • Free surveys carry Surveyplanet branding; non-branded, white-label surveys need Pro.
  • Teams, custom survey URLs, Insights and API access are Enterprise only, which is listed at $350 per year with no monthly option.

Key features

SurveyMonkey

Build with AI
Type a prompt that describes the goals of a survey and SurveyMonkey generates a draft to edit and customize. It is listed on the free Basic plan.
Logic and survey controls
Skip logic starts on Standard Monthly. Advanced logic, block randomization and multilingual surveys are reserved for the Premier tiers.
Analyze with AI and Thematic Analysis
Ask a question to get AI-generated charts and insight summaries, and have open-ended answers grouped into themes. Both start on the Advantage tier.
Statistical analysis
Statistical significance and multi-survey analysis come with the Advantage tier, and crosstabs with Premier.
Team seats and shared assets
Team plans share brand assets and set user roles and permissions. Full Access seats create and send surveys; Analyst seats view, comment on and analyze shared ones.
Mobile apps
Free iOS and Android apps create, send and analyze surveys, with push notifications. The separate SurveyMonkey Anywhere app adds kiosk mode, plus an Offline Mode on Enterprise plans.

Surveyplanet

Unlimited surveys and responses
The free plan sets no limit on the number of surveys, questions per survey or responses collected.
Question branching
Branching, also called skip logic, shows or skips questions based on earlier answers and can end a survey early. It is a Pro feature.
Themes and white labeling
Basic themes are free. Pro adds a theme designer with CSS inputs, your own logo and images, and Enterprise adds custom survey URLs.
AI survey creation and analysis
Pro generates a survey from a topic with AI. Enterprise adds AI analysis of results, with insights, sentiment and suggestions.
Exports and reports
Free accounts get a basic summary and charts in the app. Pro exports results to Word, Excel, CSV, JSON or a PDF summary and filters results.
Insights and Teams
Enterprise shows live sessions, completion and bounce rates, a location map and device usage, and lets several accounts share surveys.
