Who each one suits
Blitzit
- People who want a timer running against each task on their list
- Freelancers and students tracking how long tasks really take
- Mac and Windows users who like an always-visible floating timer
Taska
- People who sort tasks by urgency and importance
- Keeping a record of the day without writing a journal
- Seeing the task matrix on the Lock Screen without opening an app
Worth knowing
Blitzit
- There is no free plan: after the 7-day trial a Monthly or Annual plan is required.
- The stable desktop app is for macOS 12.3 or later and Windows 10 and 11. Linux and web versions exist only in the 3.0 beta.
- Blitzit 3.0 uses a new database, so lists and tasks from version 2.x have to be migrated, and changes do not sync back.
- The Blitzy assistant and Sessions Tracking are labeled beta, and PDF export of reports is marked coming soon.
Taska
- Apple devices only: the App Store lists iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, while the vendor's site describes it as an app for iPhone and iPad.
- The App Store listing does not say which features need a membership, and the vendor's site has no pricing page.
- By design there are no folders, tags or projects.
- It requires iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 or macOS 15.0 or later, and the wallpaper feature depends on a multi-step Shortcuts setup.
Key features
Blitzit
- Blitz mode and floating timer
- Blitz mode starts a focus session on the Today column: the top task gets a live timer while the rest wait below, and the list can collapse into a floating countdown.
- Time estimates and tracking
- Each task takes an estimate of how long it should take, and the app records done time and overtime so the two can be compared.
- Pomodoro timer
- A Pomodoro mode splits work into sprints and breaks of fixed lengths that you set, such as 60 minutes of work and a 15-minute break.
- Scheduling and recurring tasks
- Tasks can be scheduled once or on a repeating basis, with alerts when a scheduled task comes due and a choice to do it now or later.
- Reports
- Productivity, time-spent and sessions reports show where time went by list and how closely time estimates matched what tasks actually took.
- Blitzy AI assistant and MCP
- Blitzy, labeled beta, turns typed or spoken thoughts into tasks, notes, subtasks and schedules. An MCP server lets ChatGPT and Claude create and find tasks.
Taska
- Eisenhower Matrix
- Tasks go into one of four boxes by urgency and importance and are dragged between boxes as priorities change. Release notes describe keeping several matrices and swiping between them.
- Focus timer
- Tapping a task starts a timer with 15, 25 and 45-minute presets or a custom length, and the running session shows on the Lock Screen.
- Calendar auto-log and Schedule tab
- A finished focus session is saved to the iOS Calendar as an event. The Schedule tab shows the day on a timeline next to a monthly calendar.
- Lock Screen wallpaper
- A Shortcuts automation redraws the matrix as the Lock Screen or Home Screen wallpaper when the app opens or closes, or at a set time each day.
- Widgets
- Home Screen widgets show tasks without opening the app. A vendor notice says the March 2026 update rebuilt the set as 32 widgets.
- iCloud and Reminders sync
- Data syncs through iCloud with no sign-up, and release notes describe syncing tasks with Apple Reminders.
