How we grade them
| 2.8GPAMinimaListGood | 3.0GPAThings To DoVery good | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | BPremium is $2.99 a month, or $5.99 as a lifetime purchase, which is cheap. But the listing never says what Premium adds, so we can't call it a bargain. Its own description quotes $0.99 a month, which doesn't match the purchase list either. | AFree, with no ads and no in-app purchases. The vendor's site says so plainly, and links to a Ko-fi page if you'd like to buy the developer a coffee. That's the whole price list. |
| Free plan and trial | BFree to download and use, with no trial clock. But neither the vendor's site nor the App Store listing says which features are held back for Premium, so we can't say how far free goes. | AThe whole app is free and needs no account. Multiple lists, all three list types, iCloud sync, and text import, export and printing. There's no paid tier to hold anything back for. |
| Features | BColour-coded lists, sub-tasks, memos, and reminders by time or location that can repeat and snooze themselves up to three times. Write a time into a task and it becomes the reminder. There's a focus timer and list sharing by link. Pared back on purpose. | CThin, and that's the idea. To-do, shopping and travel lists, headers, stars, drag to reorder, and Uncheck All to reuse a list. But the guide covers no due dates or reminders, the only dates being trip dates, and no lists that several people edit together. |
| Ease of use | BWe have no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. It's a simple list app, with widgets and Siri for adding things. One quirk: a link to a shared list has to be opened in Safari. | BPick a list type, type your items, tick them off. You can paste in text with one item per line to make a list, and sync runs through your own iCloud with no sign-up. There's no rating on record, so it stops at a B. |
| Platforms and integrations | CiPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, plus Macs with an M1 chip or later, where it runs as the iPad app. It syncs with Apple Calendar and works with Siri. No Android, Windows or web version is listed. | CiPhone and iPad, plus Apple silicon Macs running the same app. There's no Android, Windows or web version, and iCloud is the only thing it connects to. It also needs iOS 26.5 or later, so an older iPhone is out. |

Worth knowing
MinimaList
- Apple only: iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, plus Macs with an M1 chip or later, where it runs as the iPad app. No Android, Windows or web version is listed.
- The listing's description quotes Premium at $0.99 a month or $5.99 a year, but its in-app purchase list shows Pay Monthly at $2.99 and several lifetime options.
- Neither the vendor's site nor the App Store listing says which features are free and which need Premium.
- A link to a shared list must be opened in Safari, according to the App Store listing.
Things To Do
- There is no separate Mac version: Apple silicon Macs run the iPhone and iPad app, and there is no Android, Windows or web version.
- The App Store listing requires iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5 or macOS 26.5 or later.
- Lists leave the app only as exported text or a printout; the guide describes no lists that several people edit together.
- The vendor's guide covers no due dates or reminders; the only dates are trip dates on Travel lists.
Key features
MinimaList
- Colored lists and custom themes
- Separate lists serve different purposes and can be color-coded. The background, font style and size, and notification sounds can all be changed.
- Reminders
- Reminders can be based on a time or a location and can repeat. A reminder can be set to snooze itself automatically up to three times.
- Smart input
- A time written inside a task phrase is detected automatically and set as the task's reminder. Tasks also take a memo and sub-tasks.
- Focus Timer
- A built-in timer offers Pomodoro, countdown and count-up modes with sound effects.
- Widgets and Siri
- Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show lists, tasks can be created and completed from the Today widget, and Siri can add a reminder to MinimaList.
- Sync, sharing and calendar
- Lists sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac, a list can be shared with other people through a link, and tasks can sync with Apple Calendar.
Things To Do
- Three list types
- A list is a To-Do, Shopping or Travel list, each with its own behavior, and its type can be switched later. The app asks first when a switch would change headers, locks or trip dates.
- Headers, stars and reordering
- Shopping and Travel lists group items under section headers, starred items rise to the top, and items are dragged into any order.
- Reusable lists with locked items
- Uncheck All resets a Shopping or Travel list for the next use. An item marked Keep Completed stays checked through the reset.
- Trip dates on Travel lists
- A Travel list takes a start and end date and shows how many nights the trip lasts, with packing items grouped by section.
- iCloud sync without an account
- Changes appear on every device signed in to the same iCloud account. There is no separate app account, and the data stays in the user's own iCloud.
- Import, export and print
- A list can be created from pasted text with one item per line, and any list or single task can be exported as text, copied or printed from the share sheet.
