How we grade them

2.8GPAErrandsGood3.6GPATasks.orgExcellent
Value for money
AIt's free and open source, with no paid version at all. The developer takes donations if you want to say thanks, though only in cryptocurrency right now.
AYou name your own price, from $0.99 a year, and that unlocks every in-app feature. Tasks.org Cloud, with sync, list sharing and an email-to-task inbox, is $29.99 a year, or $2.99 monthly. Both sit well under what to-do apps typically charge.
Free plan and trial
AThe whole app is free on Flathub. There's no paid tier, so nothing is held back and there's no limit to run into.
AFree on Android with no account: unlimited tasks, lists, tags and reminders, recurring tasks, location reminders, and sync with Google Tasks and Microsoft To Do. No ads either. Most people could stay here for good.
Features
CLists, tasks, sub-tasks, a colour per task, drag and drop and .ics import. Its own feature list stops there, with no mention of reminders or repeating tasks. Thin next to most to-do apps, and that's on purpose.
ASubtasks nested as deep as you like, filters, manual sorting, repeats and reminders tied to a place. Then the sync choices: Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, CalDAV, EteSync or its own Cloud, which adds sharing with up to five guests and an email-to-task inbox.
Ease of use
BWe have no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. It installs as a Flatpak from Flathub, and it's made for people who like things simple.
BInstall it and start a list, with no account and no internet needed. Hooking it to your own CalDAV server or DAVx⁵ takes more doing, but that's a choice. There's no rating on record to go by, so it stops at a B.
Platforms and integrations
DLinux only. The Flatpak on Flathub is the one version the developer supports, so no Windows, Mac, phone or web. It syncs with Nextcloud, and its README says other CalDAV providers may not work.
BAndroid, plus desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux that are labeled alpha and need a subscription. It syncs with a lot: Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, CalDAV, EteSync. But there's no iPhone or web app. Apple devices get there through Apple Reminders over CalDAV.

Errands

  • GNOME users who want a small, native task list
  • Nextcloud Tasks users who want a Linux desktop client
  • People who prefer a short feature list to a full planner

Tasks.org

Worth knowing

Errands

  • Linux only: the Flatpak on Flathub is the only version the developer supports, with no Windows, macOS or web release.
  • For sync, the README says only Nextcloud is known to work well and other CalDAV providers may not work.
  • The latest release, 46.2.10, is dated December 22, 2025.
  • The GNOME Apps page lists a single maintainer, and donations are accepted in cryptocurrency only.

Tasks.org

  • There is no iPhone or web app. Apple devices reach Tasks.org lists through Apple Reminders over CalDAV.
  • The desktop apps are labeled alpha and need a subscription, and the maker says matching the Android app's features will take a while.
  • Tasks.org Cloud sync needs the $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year subscription; the name-your-price tier does not include it.
  • On Google Play installs, custom themes and icons and sync through DAVx⁵, CalDAV or EteSync all need a subscription.
