Who each one suits

Checkli

  • Schools, clinics, restaurants and crews that repeat the same routine
  • Handing a checklist to substitutes, vendors or contractors without accounts
  • Managers who want to see that a recurring procedure was completed

Flask

  • A quick shared list with no accounts or setup
  • Shopping, packing and wish lists passed around as a link
  • People who want a to-do list with very few features

Worth knowing

Checkli

  • The free plan stops at 2 checklists; guest process links, reminders, embeds and CSV or PDF export need Pro.
  • The view of every run, completion emails and the record of who checked each step are limited to Business at $99 per month.
  • The pricing page shows flat monthly prices without saying whether they are per user; yearly prices appear only on the in-app Billing page.
  • Checkli runs in the browser, and the site lists no mobile or desktop apps. Reminders email only the checklist owner.

Flask

  • Sharing has no permission settings: a list is shared by its URL, with no invites.
  • It is browser only. The About page asks developers who want to help build a mobile app to get in touch, and no native apps are offered.
  • The terms of use mention a paid PRO account, but the /pro page they point to returns a not-found page and the site lists no paid plan.
  • API access is given on request by email; the site has no public API documentation.

Key features

Checkli

Master checklists and runs
Starting a process copies a checklist into a new run with every step unchecked. The original stays as the master, so each day's run keeps its own record.
Guest process links
On Pro, a run can be sent as a link that lets someone without an account check off the steps. Their checks are saved as completed by Guest.
Read-only links and collaborators
Any checklist has a read-only link for viewing. A collaborator invited by email has an account and can edit the checklist itself.
Template library
Free templates can be searched or browsed by category and copied into an account, and a finished checklist can be published to a public page.
Email reminders
On Pro, a reminder emails the checklist owner on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule or once on a custom date, with a link back to the checklist.
Team assignment and run records
Team adds a workspace and starting a process for a teammate. Business lists open and finished runs and records who checked each step and when.

Flask

No sign-up to start
A new list opens straight from the homepage and tasks can be added at once. An account is only needed to save and manage more than one list.
Sharing by URL
Each list has its own address, and copying that address is the whole sharing step. There are no permissions and no formal invites.
Task basics
Tasks can be added, edited, reordered, checked off and deleted, starred, and tagged with colors.
Email and embed
The changelog on the About page lists emailing a list and embedding a list among the features added in 2013.
Any device with a browser
The app is browser based with a responsive design for phones, so there is nothing to install and lists are the same on every device.
API on request
The About page offers developers access to an API by email, for uses such as adding to-do lists to another product.
