How we grade them
| 3.0GPAFacileThingsVery good | 3.6GPATodoistExcellent | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C$7 a month if you pay $84 for the year, rising to $12 month to month. The middle of this category is $3.99, so it sits at the dear end. You do get the whole app on every term, with 5GB for reference files. | AFive dollars a month if you pay for the year, eight for teams. Hard to find anything this good on this many devices for that. |
| Free plan and trial | CNo free plan. You get a 30-day trial with no credit card, which is a fair look at it. After that it's a subscription or nothing. | BFree forever, and reminders are included now. But 5 projects is tight. Work, home, one side thing and you're done. |
| Features | AEvery GTD stage is built into the screens, with a guided Weekly Review and Mind Sweep. Tasks link to goals and areas of focus, Google and Outlook calendars sit in one place, and there are agendas for the people you delegate to. | BTyping tasks in and repeating dates are brilliant. Filters are great if you like that sort of thing. No start dates though, and the calendar view is paid. |
| Ease of use | BWe have no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. There's a tutorial and contextual help for people new to GTD, which matters, because the method itself takes some learning. | A4.8 from around 129,000 App Store ratings. Open it, type a thing, done. Nobody needs a tutorial for this. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, iPhone and Android, and it connects to Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Evernote, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box. No desktop app is listed, so on a computer it lives in a browser tab. | AMac, Windows, Linux (yes, really), iPhone, Android, web, watch and browser. There's an API too if you like wiring things together. |
| Best for | learning GTD with an app that walks you through it | all-round to-do lists |
