Who each one suits
GQueues
- Individuals and small teams already working in Google Workspace
- People who plan their tasks on Google Calendar
- Turning Gmail messages into tracked, assigned tasks
TasksBoard
- Google Tasks users who want a board view instead of a sidebar
- Families and small teams who need to share Google Tasks lists
- Google Workspace teams that want tasks to stay inside Google
Worth knowing
GQueues
- A Google Account is required to sign in, and the vendor recommends a Gmail or Google Workspace address for full features.
- The free Lite plan covers core task management only. Google integrations, reminders, search and the mobile apps start with GQueues for YOU.
- No desktop app is listed. It runs in a browser, with Android and iOS apps and a Chrome extension.
- There is no public API yet; the help center says one is in beta testing and points to the MCP server instead.
TasksBoard
- It works only with a Google account: every task is stored in Google Tasks, and TasksBoard is a layer on top of it.
- There is no TasksBoard mobile app; the site's iOS and Android links lead to Google's own Google Tasks apps.
- The free plan stops at 5 shared lists; labels, multiple boards, customization, Sheets export and Drive attachments need Pro.
- Shared boards, team billing and priority support are limited to the Team plan.
Key features
GQueues
- Queues, subtasks and Smart Queues
- Tasks sit in lists called queues with unlimited subtasks, tags, notes, repeats and snoozing. Smart Queues filter for tasks that meet criteria you set.
- Two-way Google Calendar sync
- Changes made to tasks in Google Calendar or in GQueues update in both places in real time, and projects can sync to separate calendars you switch on and off.
- Gmail, Drive and Chrome capture
- A Google Workspace add-on turns emails into tasks, Drive files attach with permissions handled for collaborators, and a Chrome extension captures tasks as you browse.
- List and board views
- Any queue can be shown as a list or as a kanban-style board, with columns organized by status, assignee, date, priority or something else.
- Sharing, assignments and Teams
- Queues can be shared or published, tasks assigned and commented on, and changes tracked in an activity record. Teams add shared workspaces on the BUSINESS plan.
- MCP for AI assistants
- An MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT or Google Gemini list, search, add, change and complete tasks in your account after a sign-in you approve.
TasksBoard
- Full-screen kanban board
- Each Google Tasks list becomes a column on a board that fills the browser window, and tasks are dragged between columns to reorder or reprioritize them.
- Shared lists
- A Google Tasks list can be shared with edit or view-only access, and collaborators sign in with their existing Google accounts. Free accounts can use up to 5 shared lists.
- Labels and customization
- Pro adds color-coded task labels that work across boards, highlight colors for individual lists and custom board backgrounds.
- Multiple and shared boards
- Pro users can keep separate boards for work, personal and side projects. The Team plan lets a whole board be shared so every member sees the same lists.
- Google Workspace connections
- Tasks with dates appear in Google Calendar, a Gmail add-on turns emails into tasks, Drive files can be attached on Pro, and lists can be exported to Google Sheets on Pro.
- Sync through Google Tasks
- Changes sync in real time with Google Tasks, so they appear in Gmail, Google Calendar and Google's mobile apps. Changes made while offline are queued until the connection returns.
