Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What these tools do, how many we grade and what to know before choosing

75

calendar and scheduling apps we grade, from their own pages

Calendar apps and booking links for managing your time and getting meetings on the books.

Before you choose, here are 7 things to know about calendar and scheduling apps, worked out from every one we grade.

  1. 1

We grade 75 calendar and scheduling apps

61 of them are free or have a free plan, and 14 more let you try before paying. Everything in this guide comes from their own pages and our grades.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $6 a month in the middle

From $0.33 (Jorte) to $83 (Blockit), going by what each one's paid plans start at.

  3. 3

    Best value: Notion Calendar

Nothing on our chart scores higher than it without costing more.

  4. 4

35 of 75 have iPhone and Android apps

50 run in a web browser and 14 have a Windows app. Check the one you need before you fall for anything.

  5. 5

    The middle GPA is 2.6

18 score 3.0 or higher. The highest is Notion Calendar, at 3.6.

  6. 6

    Best free option: Notion Calendar

Notion Calendar has the highest GPA of the free ones, 3.6. Free calendar app that connects to Notion databases.

  7. 7

73 worth keeping, 0 you could make

By our keep-or-make rules, 73 do something you couldn't reasonably build yourself, 0 are simple enough to make with an AI app builder, and 2 are a close call.

Part 02 · Top three

Our top three

The three we'd look at first, and who each one suits

The three calendar and scheduling apps we'd look at first. First place suits the most people; second and third are the best picks for the people it leaves out. Each has an Insider's Guide of its own.

  1. 1st

    3.4GPA

    Google Calendar

    Free plan · from $7/mo

    For: Most people

Google Calendar is free with a personal Google Account and runs on the web, iPhone and Android. It shows several calendars together, puts Google Tasks next to events, can add a Google Meet link to an event, and includes one appointment booking page at no cost. Its iPhone and iPad app averages 4.5 from about 132,000 ratings. Know the limits: no desktop app is listed, and extra booking pages, payments and automatic email reminders need Workspace Business Standard or higher, at $14 per user a month on a 1-year commitment, or an eligible Google One plan.

  2. 2nd

    3.0GPA

    Cal.com

    Free plan · from $12/mo

For: Anyone who needs other people to book time with them

Cal.com is built for booking pages. Its free plan gives one user unlimited event types and calendar connections, email and SMS notifications, and Stripe and PayPal payments, where a free Google account stops at one booking page. It runs on the web, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. It is second because it handles bookings rather than the calendar itself. Shared team availability and round-robin scheduling need Teams at $12 per user a month, billed yearly, and in April 2026 Cal.com announced that its production code was going closed source.

    3.6GPA

    Notion Calendar

    Free

For: People with several calendar accounts who want a desktop app

Notion Calendar is free with no paid tier of its own, and it has Mac and Windows apps as well as web, iPhone and Android ones. It shows Google Calendar, Apple iCloud and Microsoft Outlook calendars in one view, can block busy slots across them, and includes scheduling links. Its iPhone and iPad app averages 4.7 from about 7,600 ratings. It is third because it overlaps with Google Calendar more than Cal.com does, and its phone apps do less: they show only 1 to 3 day views and cannot search events or edit most of them, and Notion says mobile support for Outlook calendars is still coming.

Part 05 · Keep or make

Keep or make?

Which are worth paying for, and which you could make yourself

0

Simple enough to make yourself, of 75

Some software does something you couldn’t reasonably build yourself. Some is simple enough that an AI app builder could make the core of it in an afternoon. Here’s where calendar and scheduling apps land, by the same rules for every tool.

  • 73

    Keep it

It does something you could not reasonably make for yourself, or it costs nothing.

  • 2

    Your call

You could make the core of it, and you would give something up.

  • 0

    You could make this

What it does is the kind of thing an AI app builder makes well, and it charges every month.

Worth keeping

  • Notion Calendar

Notion Calendar is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

  • Google Calendar

The plain part of Google Calendar you could make: calendar and tasks. What surrounds it you could not. The 5 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

  • World Time Buddy

The plain part of World Time Buddy you could make: calendar and calculator. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
