|---|---|---|
| Value for money | CStarter is $10.99 a user a month billed annually, or $13.49 monthly, which is above the dear end of this category. Seats come in fixed steps too, in blocks of 5 once you pass 5 users. Goals, portfolios and time tracking need Advanced at $24.99. | BStarter is $5 a user a month billed yearly, or $7 monthly, the cheap end of this category. But it stops at 10 members and 10 projects. Past that it's Teams at $12, or $18 monthly, and timesheets and resourcing are add-ons listed at $5 each. Proofing and SSO are sold the same way. |
| Free plan and trial | BThe Personal plan is free with unlimited tasks and projects, list, board and calendar views and 100+ integrations. Lovely for one person. But it stops at 2 users, so most teams can't stay on it. | BFree for up to 10 workspace members, with unlimited tasks and notes, chat, email in Hive and 1,000 AI credits a month. But storage is 200 MB for the lot, and there's no Gantt view. A 14-day trial of every feature needs no credit card. |
| Features | AList, board, calendar, timeline and Gantt views, rules that automate routine steps, forms that turn requests into tasks, dashboards, and goals and portfolios on Advanced. AI Studio builds workflows from a monthly credit pool. The whole job, with depth. | AKanban, Gantt, timeline, calendar, table and portfolio views, with chat, notes and email built in. Automations run repeatable steps, and Buzz sets up workflows and summarises work data. Time tracking comes with Teams, and proofing is an add-on. |
| Ease of use | A4.7 from about 15,700 App Store ratings. The same project can be a list, a board or a calendar, so each person gets the view that makes sense to them. | BThere's no App Store rating on record for it, so a B is as high as we go. Chat, notes and email live in the same workspace as your tasks, so there's less hopping between apps. Working out which add-ons you need is the fiddly part. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, though there's no Linux app. It connects to Slack, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, Jira Cloud, GitHub, Zoom and Figma, and there's a public API. | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. It connects to Slack, Zoom, Google Drive, Microsoft Teams, Jira, GitHub, QuickBooks and Dropbox. An API is listed with the Enterprise plan. |
| Best for | projects that cross several departments | tasks, chat and notes in one place |
