Who each one suits

ProjectManager

  • Teams that plan with Gantt charts, dependencies and critical path
  • Managers balancing workloads and budgets across a portfolio
  • Organizations moving plans over from Microsoft Project
  • Field teams updating tasks and logging hours from a phone

TeamGantt

  • Teams that plan around a schedule and want the Gantt chart first
  • Teams with many occasional contributors, since Business has unlimited collaborators
  • Construction firms, through the Builder Edition and its Procore sync

Worth knowing

ProjectManager

  • There is no free plan; when the 30-day trial ends the account and its project data are locked until a paid edition is bought.
  • Team is capped at 10 users and 20 projects; resource management, timesheets, budgeting and automation start on Business.
  • Slack, Microsoft Teams and two-way Jira and Azure DevOps sync are sold as an Integration Bundle at $5 per user / month.
  • SAML single sign-on, custom permissions and audit logs are limited to Enterprise, which is quoted on request.

TeamGantt

  • Paid plans are priced by project count, not per user. Base is capped at 5 projects, 1 manager, 10 collaborators and 150 tasks per project.
  • The plan comparison marks critical path, workload management, the Kanban view and time tracking as Business and above.
  • The free trial requires a credit card and bills automatically for the trialed plan when the 14 days end.
  • The live pricing page localizes prices by country, so buyers outside the US may see amounts in another currency.

Key features

ProjectManager

Five views of one plan
Every plan includes Gantt, list, sheet, board and calendar views of the same project, with data updating in real time across them.
Gantt charts with critical path
The Gantt chart supports dependencies, milestones, baselines and critical path, and existing plans can be imported, including Microsoft Project files.
Resource and workload planning
On Business, managers define working days, set labor rates and balance workloads, while team members log hours on tasks and submit timesheets.
Portfolio dashboards and roadmap
Business adds a portfolio dashboard that rolls up tasks, cost and workload across projects, and a roadmap view of the whole portfolio in Gantt format.
Workflow automation
Rules built from triggers and actions update status, assignee, priority or tags without code: 5 rules per workflow on Business and 20 on Enterprise.
AI Project Insights
Available from Business, it generates summaries of project progress and tips on risk, resourcing and task execution.

TeamGantt

Drag-and-drop Gantt charts
Schedules are built by dragging tasks on a timeline, linking them with dependencies and adding milestones. Several projects can be viewed in a single Gantt chart.
Board, calendar and list views
The same plan can be switched between Gantt, board, calendar and list views that stay in sync. The plan comparison lists the Kanban view from Business up.
Workload and availability
An availability view shows how many tasks and hours each person has on a given day. Workload management and team resourcing are part of Business and Builder Edition.
Time tracking and estimates
Hourly estimates and time tracking let a team compare actual hours with the estimate. Both are marked as Business and Builder Edition features.
Sharing and collaboration
Notes, comments and files attach to tasks, and a public share link gives outsiders a live view of the schedule on every paid plan.
AI project creation
A project timeline can be generated with AI as a starting point. The comparison table includes AI project creation on Base, Business and Builder Edition.
