| Value for money | BGrasshopper is $5 per person a month billed annually, $6 monthly, which is the cheap end. But it has no reports, timesheets or Gantt charts. Those start on Blackbelt at $8, about the going rate. And everyone you add is charged for, whether they log in or not. | BBasics is $9.99 per user a month billed yearly, with a 3-user minimum. That's the dear end of typical, and it's $13.99 if you pay monthly. Workload planning, retainers and invoices built from logged time need Accelerate at $24.99, with a 5-user minimum. |
| Free plan and trial | CNo free plan. The trial is 30 days with every feature and no credit card needed, which is plenty of time to see if it fits. After that it's paid. | BFree for up to 5 users and 5 projects, with list, board, table and Gantt views, time logging and 100 automations. Good to start on. But 100 MB of file storage won't last, and neither will 5 projects. Paid plans have a 14-day trial with no credit card. |
| Features | ABookings can be tentative, repeating, spread over several resources or set as a total of hours, with clash management, time zones and leave on every plan. Blackbelt adds Gantt charts, budgets, timesheets and reports. It's built for scheduling, not task lists, and it does scheduling fully. | ALists, boards, tables and Gantt charts on every plan. Time logged as billable or not, invoices built from it, time budgets and retainers, workload and capacity planning, intake forms and automations. Optimize adds quotes and scheduling by role or skill. For client work, it's all here. |
| Ease of use | BNo app rating on record, so a B at best. It's hosted, and the idea is simple: a schedule that shows who's free. Weekly timesheets even suggest entries from work already booked, which saves typing. | BNo app rating on record, so a B is the ceiling. It's hosted, the free plan lets you look around with no deadline, and every plan gets all four views. The plans take some reading, mind, with seat minimums and automation caps that change at each step. |
| Platforms and integrations | BIt's a web app, and the pricing page lists no mobile or desktop apps. It does connect well, though: Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Jira, Asana, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zapier and Salesforce, with integrations and an API on the lowest plan. | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a browser extension. It connects to Slack, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Salesforce, NetSuite and Harvest, and to Claude and ChatGPT. One catch: the desktop apps don't work offline. |
| Best for | booking people, rooms and equipment on one schedule | agencies that bill clients for tracked time |
