Value for money
BStarter is $7 a scheduled person a month billed annually, or $8.50 monthly, which is about typical for this category. You only pay for people you schedule, and those who just need to see the plan join free as guests. Time tracking and cost estimates need Pro at $12.
AOne plan at $6 per user a month billed yearly, $7 monthly, and everything's in it: every view, capacity planning, timesheets, automation rules, the REST API and the MCP server. That's under the going rate with no tiers to climb. You do need at least 3 licenses.
Free plan and trial
CNo free plan. You get a 30-day free trial of the Pro plan with no credit card required, and Float says it keeps trial data for 6 months. After that it's a paid plan or nothing.
CThere's no free plan on the current pricing page. The first month is free with no credit card. If you don't subscribe after that the organisation closes, though nothing is deleted.
Features
AIt does one job, scheduling people, and does it fully: hours or percentages on projects, time off, holiday calendars, roles and skills, project phases, budgets and utilization reports. Placeholders stand in for planned hires. Timesheets and expenses come with Pro.
AList, board, Gantt, schedule, mind map, timesheet and chart views, all showing the same items. Capacity planning sets weekly hours, part-time contracts and holidays per person. The Gantt has dependencies and baselines, and there are custom fields, formulas and automation rules.
Ease of use
A4.7 from about 430 App Store ratings. That's not many ratings next to the big project tools, but it's a high score. Timesheets on Pro come prefilled from the schedule, which saves the typing.
BNo app rating on record, so a B at best. It's hosted, and with one plan there's no puzzling over which tier has what. A change made in one view shows up in every other, and plans can be imported from Microsoft Project.
Platforms and integrations
AWeb, iPhone and Android, with no desktop app listed. Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Slack, Zapier and API access are on every plan, and a Float MCP connector for Claude is in beta.
BIt's a web app, with no phone or desktop apps on record. There's a REST API with webhooks, and an MCP server so assistants like Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot can find and update work. The integrations list is short beyond that.

Worth knowing

Float

  • Time tracking, project cost estimates, expenses, SSO and team-enforced 2FA all need the Pro plan.
  • Starter keeps the activity feed for 7 days, includes 1 placeholder and limits saved filtered views to personal ones.
  • The download page offers iOS and Android apps only; no desktop app is listed.

Teamhood

  • The current pricing page has no free plan: after the free month an organization must subscribe or it closes.
  • A subscription needs at least 3 licenses, and listed prices exclude VAT.
  • Single sign-on, SCIM and dedicated, hybrid or on-premise hosting are Enterprise only.
  • The older Teamhood Classic, with a free Personal plan and Team and Business tiers, is priced on a separate page for Classic workspaces.

Key features

Float

Resource scheduling
People are scheduled onto projects in hours or percentages. Placeholders add planned hires, contractors or shared equipment without using a seat: 1 on Starter, 5 on Pro.
Capacity and time off
Custom workdays and hours, global holiday calendars, departments, roles, skills and tags feed each person's capacity. Time off management is on every plan.
Project planning and budgets
Projects have phases, milestones, tasks, templates and budget tracking on every plan. Project cost estimates and expenses are Pro features.
Time tracking
The Pro plan adds timesheets that are prefilled from the schedule or logged automatically, and time entries that can be locked.
Reporting and forecasting
Utilization trends, billable versus non-billable hours, budget burn and margin tracking are on every plan. Finance and people dashboards and estimates versus actuals need Pro.
Integrations and API
Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Slack, Zapier and custom API integrations are included on every plan. A Float MCP connector for Claude is in beta.

Teamhood

One set of items, many views
List, board, Gantt, schedule, mind map, timesheet and chart views all show the same items, so a change made in one view appears in every other.
Capacity planning
Weekly hours, part-time contracts, vacations and half days are set per person, and booked hours are shown against capacity across all projects.
Gantt with dependencies
Dependencies reschedule linked work when a task moves, hours flow around time off, and a plan can be compared against a saved baseline.
Timesheets and time tracking
Hours are logged in a timesheet view, and estimates, budget and tracked time add up from tasks to the project level.
Custom types, fields and automation
Custom item types and fields, formula and roll-up fields and automation rules let a team model programs, phases and roles the way it plans them.
MCP server, REST API and webhooks
An MCP server lets assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot find and update work within the user's permissions. A REST API with an OpenAPI document and webhooks serve other systems.
